Meyer House is an exclusive luxury residential development situated on Meyer Road in the heart of Tanjong Katong. The condominum features a unique ‘C’-shaped layout, offering residences serene views of a lush forested garden at its center.
This project is spearheaded by the renowned award-winning architect WOHA in collaboration with award-wining landscape architects Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl and the award-winning lighting designers at Light Collab.
The development has earned four prestigious honors: the SIA Architectural Awards for Design of the Year 2022, SLAA Merit award for Residential 2022, SIA Architectural Awards for Lighting Design 2022 & LIT Awards for Best Residential Lighting 2022. Our SR® products was selected to illuminate the facade, landscape & pool area.
A key challenge for the project which was identified by the Light Collab team was minimizing direct lighting. Together with the architects and main contractors, the lighting designers conducted thorough studies to determine optimal solutions.
The precise detailing and use of indirect lighting for the kerbs and coves were achieved with our CONT V SLIM ONJ02, encapsulated in high-performance silicone. This versatile series caters to various applications covering a soft glow effect. This approach featured warm, low-level lighting strategies that create a comfortable atmosphere, establishing a clear visual hierarchy, ensuring both safety and effective wayfinding.
The elegant façade was achieved using our CONT V LM06 & LM10, it has the ideal bending radius and the capability to create a soft gentle glow. This lighting design was specifically crafted to enhance and highlight the architectural features. Despite the custom inclined lourves and panelling that encircle the building, our LED strip has high uniformity with no dark spot creating a continuous visual experience across the façade. Ultimately, we successfully achieved the desired outcome, with the residential development now stands out prominently from the surrounding buildings.
Illuminating the drop-off point was also a challenge for Light Collab due to the need of reducing direct lighting. The coves were fitted with asymmetrical optical luminaires for uplighting, with WOHA architects carefully detailing the design to keep the light sources concealed. Downlights highlighted a feature rock at the roundabout, while simulations ensured the right brightness and ambiance.
Discreet uplighters at the base of trees and shrubs add depth to the landscape, while our CONT H SLM03 lights, designed to withstand depths of up to 1.5 meters, were installed around the pool to enhance visibility by subtly highlighting its edges and contours for added safety.
The delicate balance of light and shadow has reimagined this residence into a captivating outdoor oasis, Where the grace of architecture harmoniously blends with the tranquility of nature. Thoughtful lighting and an enriched landscape creates a vibe that embodies both luxury and serene calm, offering a peaceful retreat for the hardworking residents of Meyer House.
